Why Eclipse?

We want to preserve the Ceskys bloodlines and original type for future generations. We follow strict ethical guidelines and include thorough health testing, careful pedigree selection, and a focus on the breed's original purpose and working ability. We believe this philosophy ensures the dogs we produce are healthy, well-tempered, and possess the charcteristics of the breed.

​Breed integrity: We are committed to maintaining the breed's type, working ability, and health as set by the AKC and our parent club - The American Cesky Terrier Fanciers Association.  We 'walk the walk' on this point by owning and breeding dogs that can participate in Conformation, Obedience, Agility, FastCAT, Barn Hunt, and Earth Dog events.

Health: We are committed to providing complete health testing for possible hereditary issues by supporting the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals)  and genetic testing.  The OFA and Embark links on the References page provide help in researching Cesky Terrier health guidelines and testing.

Planning: We plan litters, studying pedigrees to avoid health issues and work with other breeders to use generational knowledge of health temperament, and type.  The Breed Archive link we provide on the References page will let you research various bloodlines for the Cesky Terrier.

Ethical commitment: We adhere to a high ethical standards, providing full health tracking on pups, using sales contracts, and requiring spay/neuter agreements on pets.  All prospective new owners are requiremed to complete a New Owner Questionnaire, all pups are transferred with full records on growth and health, and contracts cover responsibilities of both Eclipse and new owners

Lifelong support: We provide on-going support to puppy owners.  We want to be a resource throughout the dog's life.  Our dogs are our friends and family.  We take seriously our responsibility of ensuring all Ceskys that we place go to forever, loving homes.  Those homes and those families become a part of our extended family - becoming friends for life. We will always take a dog back at any time if the owner can no longer care for it.

Commitment to a rare breed: Because there are so few Cesky Terriers both in the US and the world, we know the genetics are vulnerable and require concentrated efforts to ensure their survival.
